Life at the Funeral.

The sky is grey on this damp-cold day,

Somber monochrome circles, umbrellas

signal where to park.

Inside, a sea of black,

faces dark.

Psalms, life stories,

Family reminiscences,

past glories,

So vibrant, so giving, so loved

so living

In all the choked voices,

all the faces damp with tears,

If only we could have a few more chances,

If we could only have back the years.

Funerals are for saying goodbye,

as well as

Let us give the lives we have

A better try.

I love this too Lily. A perfect reminder. Funerals are part of life. Italians always burst into applause at funerals. I like that. The way they do when a plane lands safely. Life and death are two sides of the same coin. Jx
